Scholarship is important

Scholarship is always prioritized in Chi Omega. Along with being one of our six purposes, our Symphony reminds us to always put “scholarship above social obligations.” Not only do we strive for excellence individually, but we also encourage each other to do our best each and every day. Through group study sessions, goal setting nights, and motivational rewards, our sisterhood encourages learning and a well balanced lifestyle. The proof of our efforts? We are proud to share that Chi Delta has held the highest GPA of any sorority on campus for the past six semesters!

Our advisors

Every chapter has a group of alumnae volunteers that act as advisors. They play a crucial role in guiding and supporting the members of a sorority chapter. They act as mentors, providing advice on chapter operations, organizational goals, and member development. Advisors work closely with chapter leaders to ensure adherence to national organization standards, facilitate communication between the chapter and its headquarters, and offer guidance on issues ranging from recruitment strategies to risk management. Overall, sorority chapter advisors serve as dedicated advocates for the chapter's success and the well-being of its members.

Rooted in purpose

Chi omega has long been the largest women's fraternal organization in the National Panhellenic Conference, and since 1895, we bring our members unequaled opportunities for personal growth and development. We are committed to and live out our six purposes: Friendship, Personal Integrity, Service to Others, Academic Excellence and Intellectual Pursuits, Community and Campus Involvement, & Personal and Career Development.

Anti-Hazing

Hazing has no place in Chi Omega, and that is why we are long-time sponsors of the Anti-Hazing Hotline. Established in 2007, the Greek Anti-Hazing Hotline is a consortium which is sponsored by 55 national and international fraternities and sororities, including Chi Omega. The hotline is a resource by which collegians can anonymously report any suspected or known hazing events. 1.888.NOT.HAZE (1.888.668.4293) accepts calls 24 hours a day.

Our Lodge

Our lodge provides a sense of belonging and community for members, offering spaces where they can study together, plan events, and simply hang out. It is also a dedicated area for chapter meetings, recruitment events, and bonding activities, while also symbolizing tradition and pride within the organization.

Educational Tools

All members of Chi Omega take part in educational and leadership development to ensure they are thriving on campus. The Chi Omega Foundation provides funding to help ensure the needs of collegians and alumnae are met. Members in every class year depend on this education to reinforce their skills to navigate campus life as well as their leadership positions. This expertise will later guide them in career, volunteer, and family experiences.

Committed to serving others

Chi Omega has been an active supporter of Make-A-Wish since 2002. Each chapter and its members host events, fundraise, and help to share the power of a wish with children and families nationwide. Service to others is one of the six purposes of our Fraternity, and it is actively practiced by our members.

Chi Omega recognizes that many parents are understandably concerned about the well-being and safety of their daughters. Below are some questions parents may have regarding the sorority membership experience and what Chi Omega is doing to ensure the welfare of every Sister is kept ‘ever at heart.’

1

What is the return on investment for sorority life?

Sorority membership provides an opportunity for members to reach their fullest potentials and gain access to a supportive network of women that will help them grow far beyond their college days. Membership in fraternal organizations have been linked to higher well-being for college graduates. In a 2014 Gallup-Purdue Index Study, it was found that college graduates who were in fraternities and sororities were more likely to be thriving in all five critical elements of well-being (purpose, social, financial, physical and community).

2

Why is Chi Omega the right choice?

While we are proud of being the largest sorority in the National Panhellenic Conference, we are even more proud of the values our Sisters exhibit every day. Rather than focusing on “fitting in,” Chi Omega provides a space for our members to belong. A Chi Omega’s collegiate years are just the beginning, Sisters will find lifelong support systems and meaningful connections through the largest alumnae network of any sorority. No matter your location, career, or interest, you will always find a Sister to connect with.

3

How will joining Chi Omega help my daughter’s college experience now?

With the transition to college already overwhelming, students face the challenge of navigating an altered college experience. The Chi Omega sisterhood can provide structure and opportunities for new members to get plugged into a values-based community right away. As well as give members a support system to help them grow and find true belonging. Further, Chi Omega will provide your daughter with a strong connection to the college and college life, especially with members who have had years already on campus.

4

Are there scholarship opportunities?

Chi Omega is full of scholarship opportunities. Our specific chapter has an endowment fund awarded every year. Additionally, Chi Omega Nationals offers scholarships open to any Chi Omega sister. The information for those scholarships can be easily accessed on the official Chi Omega website.

5

What are the membership expectations?

While we encourage participation in as many events as possible to fully immerse yourself in the sisterhood and bond with one another, we also understand that our sisters have academic commitments, personal responsibilities, and sometimes just need a little time for themselves. So, we design our calendar to accommodate the diverse needs of our members with not all events being mandatory.

6

What are the financial responsibiltes?

As a member of Chi Omega, the expected financial responsibilities involve paying dues each month or in full in advance, according to your preference. However, if for some reason you're unable to do so, we typically work together to find a solution. Before joining, you'll receive thorough education and complete transparency regarding the dues structure.

7

Do you live in the lodge?

Sororities at Millsaps do not live in their lodges. We still frequently utilize our lodges as hubs for social, academic, and philanthropic activities to further foster our sisterhood.

8

How can I be apart of Chi Omega and my daughter?

Many of our Chi Delta parents are involved in different events that we put on. Ranging from helping out at gamedays, philanthropy events, making food, or attending bid-day: we love to see our parents be a part of our chapter!
